We are testing the capabilities of DNN Blog 4.0 with Windows Live Writer.

Live Writer makes maintaining a Blog simple.  Not only does it provide Spell Check capabilities but also allows simple uploading of your graphics along with your post.  No more separate uploads of graphics.  Picture resizing and manipulation can be done directly in Live Writer.

Steps to Implement Live Writer with DNN Blog 4.0

1. Download and install Windows Live Writer http://download.live.com/writer
   Durring the Install you will be presented with a number of Microsoft Live options.  You can uncheck everything except the Live Writer Install.
2. Begin the Start Up Wizard   
   
3. Choose Other Blog Service   
   
4. Type the URL to your Blog Page.   
   
   Simply Navigate to your Web Site Blog Page and Copy the URL   
       
   Paste the URL into the ‘Web address of your blog’ setting
   Enter your normal login and password used to access your DNN Web Site.
5. Choose Metaweblog API as the Blog type   
   
   To find your remote posting URL, navigate to you Blog.  Then choose ‘My Blog Settings’   
   
   Inside your Blog Setting you will see the Metaweblog URL.  Copy the this URL and paste into the Windows Live Writer ‘Remote Posting URL’ setting.   
   
6. Choose Yes to create a temporary post.   
   
7. You may receive an error if the web site templates can’t be downloaded.  This is not a major concern since the publishing will work just the same.   
   
8. Choose a Nickname and click Finish.   
   
9. From the Windows Live Writer Screen begin by creating a Title.  When you are satisfied, simply choose Publish.   
    
10. Unfortunately, the ability to add categories directly from Windows Live Writer does not seem to work.  Therefore, you should create and manage your Blog categories from the Blog Web Page.  Once the categories have been added they are available inside Live Writer.
